In a cow-calf herd, you have a few good mamas that you just love. Good mamas who take care of their babies. Their calves grow big and are healthy and happy. The best mother cows are leaders when moving pastures and fields. They are the “mothers who know.” My Mother-in-law is a woman who knows. She is the mother of our Vosem Beef herd.

One of life’s biggest blessings has been becoming part of her herd. She’s not just a Mother-in-Law to me, she’s like a best friend. Her praise and opinion mean more to me than anything else in the world.

When I first started to know her I was inspired by her. It was because of her I decided who I wanted to be. I wanted to develop skills that I saw she had that created a new level of love and comfort in the home. I set new dreams to learn to cook, sew, craft, create. I wanted to be a mother like she had mothered. The time she spent to teach, guide, lead, correct, shape and mold makes her the MVP of our herd.

In priase of her, here is a recipe she has shared that we have enjoyed “10 times over!” It is a go-to favorite. Light, quick, addicting, and so good. Everything a “mother-who-knows” would include in a busy weekday meal to inspire a future Mother or Mother-in-law! Enjoy.
